FLIGHTCHECK® will alert you when the output type has been set for Normal, Low or Rough. Sometimes one might do a quick printout in Rough mode, to avoid lengthy processing of high-resolution images, and forget to change this back to Normal before the actual final printing. To correct such a problem, return the document back to the application's Print Setup.
Separation
FLIGHTCHECK® will tell you when Separations has been turned on or not. Again, sometimes one might want to print the document as a quick proof, but forget to reset this parameter when Separations are intended.
Spreads
FLIGHTCHECK® will alert you as to whether or not Spreads are on or off. Sometimes one might want to print individual pages to an in-house LaserWriter and fail to reset this parameter back to spreads when sending out the job for final printing.
Registraton Marks
FLIGHTCHECK® can inform you of the Registration or Printer Marks settings, including if the marks should be printed centered or off center. Note that turning marks on means a new printing area needs to be calculated, as the amount of space required to include the additional marks will increase and this new area might result in the final page size being too large for the destination printable area. An additional item to check would be the Registration Mark Offset value (as offered in the QuarkXPress Applications Preferences).
Bleed
FLIGHTCHECK® will inform you when objects are not sufficiently extended beyond the edge of the page.
Sequence
FLIGHTCHECK® will let know if All, Odd or Even pages has been selected.
Tiling
FLIGHTCHECK® will alert you when Tiling is off, or has been set for Manual or Automatic.
Options
FLIGHTCHECK® will also report to you on the various additional options available via Print Setup, such as if Thumbnails is on or off, Collate, Back to Front, Include Blank Pages, Print Colors as Grays, Black &White and Color printing.
The problem parameters of Print Setup are often the easiest of all to catch and fix, but this is mostly because the application's Print dialog is always the very last window you'll see before printing.
